If you’ve read my Faroe Islands posts, you probably noticed a lot of photos of sheep. Matt says that I took a photo of every single sheep we saw, and he isn’t joking! I got a little obsessed with taking photos of them because they were just so cute πŸ™‚ So here are 50 photos of sheep in the Faroe Islands to make you want to go see them for yourself!

50 Photos of the Cutest, Fluffiest Sheep in the Faroe Islands

The sheep in the Faroe Islands are adorable, but they actually play an important role in the Faroe Islands’ tourism, too! There are 80,000 sheep to 50,000 people that roam freely in the countryside, which was the inspiration for aΒ genius idea. The tourism board wanted the islands to have Google Street View, but the roads and terrain are not the easiest to travel across (as I learned, big time!). So instead of using cars, they put cameras on sheep! Sheepview 360Β went viral and tourism is at an all time high. So along with very cute and photogenic, sheep play a pretty big role in tourism for the Faroe Islands!

KirkjubΓΈur

We started off our Faroe Islands trip inΒ KirkjubΓΈur! It’s a small village outside ofΒ TΓ³rshavn. Along with having cute sheep, this is the only village we went to that also had cute, fluffy Highland cows πŸ™‚

TΓ³rshavn

We only saw a few sheep in TΓ³rshavn because it’s a bigger city, but we did see some sheep in people’s backyards! Including a lamb on a leash!

Kunoy andΒ KlaksvΓk

Kunoy andΒ KlaksvΓk also only had a few sheep sinceΒ KlaksvΓk is also a bigger city. Kunoy’s sheep (and cows) were very curious about what we were doing though and kept watching us!

Hike to theΒ Kallur Lighthouse on Kalsoy

We saw the most sheep along the hike to the Kallur Lighthouse on Kalsoy! And there were tons of lambs πŸ™‚ The hike was pretty steep in some areas, so I was impressed that there were so many sheep near the top! I have no idea how the farmers would round them up.

The lambs were so cute and would wag their tails when they were feeding!

Saksun

We didn’t see any sheep in GjΓ³gv, but we did see a lot in Saksun (plus some pretty horses!). Again, I was impressed that the sheep were on steep, rocky cliffsides because I certainly couldn’t climb on them. And we got to see a lot of sheep on the black sand beach, so that was really cool!

Hike to the Hanging Lake

Too bad we couldn’t have asked the sheep for directions during our failed hike to the Hanging Lake! We saw lots of cute and curious lambs, and the lake made for a pretty backdrop.

Oh My God! they are so cute! Reminds me of the cute white sheep we get to see in Kolkata maidan area early morning. though they are stripped off the fur dor woollen business and they actually don’t mind given Kolkata’s humid weather!

Did many of them speak English (the people, not the sheep)?
