Beignet Done That! Seven Amazing Restaurants in New Orleans

19

Feb

New Orleans is known for its food, and it did not disappoint. I didn’t have a single bad meal while I was there! I went to a variety of restaurants and everything I tried was delicious, and surprisingly, everything was cheaper than I expected. The most I paid was $20 for a three course meal! So here are the seven amazing restaurants in New Orleans you must try! ๐Ÿ™‚

7 Amazing Restaurants in New Orleans

St. James Cheese Company

St. James Cheese Company

Theย ย St. James Cheese Companyย doesn’t serve typical New Orleans fare; it’s all about cheese! This was the first restaurant I went to in New Orleans when I was touring the Warehouse District, and our sandwiches were hot and so cheesy. Even the salads were cheesy! If you’re a cheese fan, this restaurant is for you.

Napoleon House

Napoleon House

Napoleon House has quite the interesting history. This building was going to be the apartments of Napoleon after he was rescued from his exile, but as soon as a team left to rescue him, he died. So Napoleon never actually lived here, but because of the its history, that’s where they got the name for the restaurant.

Napoleon House was my mom’s favorite place! She got theย Shrimp Remoulade Stuffed Avocado and I got theย Jambalaya, and both were absolutely delicious- and much cheaper than you would expect for a well-known restaurant in the French Quarter.

Antoine’s Restaurant

Antoine's Restaurant

Antoine’s Restaurant is probably New Orleans’ most famous restaurant. It first started 176 years ago, making it the country’s oldest family-run restaurant. It was much bigger than I expected, and all the back rooms are beautiful!

While we were in New Orleans, they were running a lunch special for $20.17 for three courses, AND they had 25 cent martinis! It can’t get much better than that. Again, everything was delicious, and I highly recommend going to Antoine’s for their lunch special.

The Market Cafe

The Market Cafe

The Market Cafeย was surprisingly good! My mom and I were starving and it was a little early for dinner so there weren’t many places open for dinner yet, so we just happened to find The Market Cafe. It looked like a sports bar and a little touristy so I didn’t have high hopes, but their gumbo was amazing! I definitely recommend The Market Cafe if you’re in the French Quarter!

French Quarter

After dinner, we explored some of the emptier parts of the French Quarter and found these pretty buildings!

Cafe du Monde

Cafe du Monde

You can’t go to New Orleans without getting beignets! Cafe du Monde is the most famous place to get beignets, and it’s actually open 24/7. It was pretty crowded when we stopped by (and it’s probably more crowded at other times of the day), but it only took a few minutes to get beignets and we left the crowds to eat them by the river. It only cost a few dollars to get three!

Cafe Beignet

Cafe Beignet is another great spot to get beignets! I think I preferred Cafe Beignet to Cafe du Monde because it wasn’t as crowded and the cafe was so cute, but the prices were the same and the beignets were just as delicious both spots so you really can’t go wrong with either. I think my mom and I went to Cafe Beignet three times while we were there, it was that good!

The inspiration for the name of this post! And yes, I did get a mug!

I loved the cafe!

Sno-Balls at Imperial Woodpecker

Snoballs

Someone recommended I try sno-balls in New Orleans, and they were pretty similar to Philly’s water ice. I got strawberry and it was delicious! We got sno-balls at the Imperial Woodpecker stand in the Spanish Plaza and they have another location on Magazine Street. There are also lots of other sno-ball spots around New Orleans so you can find them wherever you go!
