Black-and-White Christmas Decorations

Dec

If you’ve kept up with my blog from the very beginning, you’ll know that this started out primarily as a black-and-white photography blog. I explain the reason why I chose black-and-white photography in detail on my Behind the Blog page, but basically, I love the look of older film photography, especially with older cities like Philadelphia (I love film photography so much that I have a pretty big collection of old photographs). I haven’t done a black-and-white photography post since August, so I thought that Christmas would be the perfect time to bring it back with a black-and-white Christmas decorations post!

If you’ve seen my many Christmas posts, you’ve seen how beautiful and magical Philadelphia is at Christmastime. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful, classy decorations and lights that give an old-fashioned Christmas feel to the city, and I feel like I’ve stepped back in time. I also did a black-and-white Christmas decorations post last year because I love how timeless Philadelphia looks this time of year. If you haven’t explored Philadelphia at Christmastime yet, you should definitely try to before the holiday season ends!

I love black and white photography! Always adds crisp and drama to any photo! I used to take a lot with film until I couldn’t get my hands on b&w films in stores anymore if I don’t go on eBay. 🙁

Great post! Christmas decorations can be so garish because of all of the oversaturated colors, but these photos distill it down to its simple beauty – great job 🙂
I’ve loved the look of black-and-white film photography since I saw a series of photos that my dad took (who wasn’t a photographer per se, but his dad owned a camera store). They were of a stunning ice storm that hit my home when I was a kid, and the photographs opened my eyes to photography at a very young age.

Thank you! I did manage to get some black-and-white photos of some snow and ice we got last year, and I’m hoping I can get some more this year! 🙂

You’ve really opened up my eyes to black and white photography! I’ve never been a huge fan, but these are stunning! Philly us a great subject, too! 🙂
