Hello!

Welcome to Philly with a Fjallraven! 🙂

I’m so excited to launch this blog to start off 2016! For those who don’t know me, here’s a little background: I’m Julia, a 20-something newbie to Philadelphia. I graduated from Meredith College in May 2015, cut my long hair in June, moved from North Carolina to Philly for an internship in August, got Annika the husky in September, and got a promotion in October, so it’s been a busy few months! Now that things have finally settled down for me and the holidays are ending, I decided to launch this blog!

I decided to start a blog because I realized that I hadn’t been exploring my new home as much as I should be. I’ll be photographing the good, the bad, and the ugly to show all perspectives of Philadelphia (and I may throw in the occasional post on some of my other interests!). I explore the city with my new Fjallraven backpack and husky sidekick, Annika, and I shoot with my trusty Nikon D60. My photographs will be primarily black and white. Photography was one of my minors in college and shooting with film cameras and developing the pictures was my favorite part because the photographs looked timeless and vintage, so I’m trying to achieve that look with a digital camera. You can also notice more texture and detail when there isn’t color to look at, and Philadelphia has so many amazing details that may be lost in color photographs.

All photographs on this blog are taken and copyrighted by me (unless otherwise indicated), and they may be purchased if anyone is interested! I am open to any photography tips or suggestions on where to photograph, and feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas! I’m also new to WordPress, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I love old buildings, so you will probably be seeing a lot of the many old churches Philly has!

City Hall is probably my favorite building in Philly so far. I’ve never seen a Victorian city hall, and it’s even more beautiful in person!

Elfreth’s Alley is known as “Our nation’s oldest residential street,” dating all the way back to 1702

Along with the many beautiful old buildings, Philly has some pretty neat modern architecture, and the skyline is pretty incredible
