Philadelphia Museum of Art Grounds

Even if you don’t live in Philadelphia, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the Philadelphia Museum of Art because of its beautiful grounds… just kidding! It’s the home of the very famous Rocky Steps! (confession time: I actually didn’t even seen Rocky until a few months after I moved to Philadelphia) If you get the chance to go to the art museum, you should definitely run up the steps as tribute!

So the Philadelphia Museum of Art also obviously has art (which will be a future blog post!), but in this post I’m actually going to be focusing on the beautiful greenery around the museum.

This photo was actually from my last blog post where I featured pictures of Philadelphia taken at the top of City Hall, and I wanted to use it again to show you just how huge the art museum and all the space around it is! It sits along the Schuylkill River (and you can actually walk on the Schuylkill River Trail to get to it), and you can get incredible views of Boathouse Row and other famous Philly buildings. I’ve said this before, but I’m always so surprised how many green, open spaces there are in Philadelphia! It isn’t something you would expect in such a big city, and it’s definitely a huge perk.

Boathouse Row! I really want to go to the other side of the Schuylkill River to get more pictures of it

There were actually quite a few people fishing!

Someone was even filming a museum video inside a gazebo

There’s a sculpture garden (you get to see art for free!)

Even the back of the museum is gorgeous!

Isn’t the ornate tile work beautiful??

So if you ever want a new park to explore, I highly recommend the Philadelphia Museum of Art! Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post on the inside of the art museum!

Shameless plug: I have another article for Acculturated up!

I am going to have to check out City Hall whenever I visit Philadelphia. What an incredible few of the Philadelphia Art Museum. I am also aware that the Rocky Statue was moved from the top of the steps to the bottom years ago, but still … what a classic movie series … except for Rocky V … we shall never speak of that one ever again. 😉
