Reading Terminal Market

You can’t go to Philadelphia without visiting Reading Terminal Market. It’s near the Convention Center so there are tourists there, but the locals love it and it’s a great place to get a feel of Philly life! Reading Terminal Market is an indoor market with everything you could imagine- fresh groceries, restaurants, donut stands (locals swear by donuts at Beiler’s Bakery), fresh honey stands, flower markets, chocolatiers, bakeries, amazing Amish markets (they have the best hot pretzels I’ve ever had!), and so much more! I even got a gorgeous French tablecloth from a stand there for a wedding present. Reading Terminal Market seriously has everything under the sun (you can view all of their markets and stands here).

I have a glimpse of Reading Terminal Market in my Four Days in Philadelphia post, and I have lots more photos here! I will say that Reading Terminal Market can be pretty crowded and the more popular markets can be overwhelming, so it can be hard to photograph (I’ll admit, these aren’t my best photos, so I need to go back and take some more!). The back and the sides of the market are the least crowded if you’re not a fan of crowds.

Reading Terminal Market is only a few blocks from the more popular Philly places like Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, so it’s a great place to stop for lunch if you’re in that area!

There’s a German market that had a lot of foods that I enjoyed when I lived in Denmark! Matt and I got rye bread mix and it was delicious, and my family took their German exchange student here and she recognized all the food

As you may have seen on my Intercourse, PA post, I’m fascinated by the Amish culture here!

This is from my Four Days in Philadelphia post, and these Amish pretzels were amazing! Their pretzel stand was even featured on a Buzzfeed article!

Have you visited Reading Terminal Market yet? 🙂 I would love to hear more recommendations on stands there!

Are those hearts solid chocolate?? Or hollow, kind of like Easter eggs? Either way they look incredible!

  6. I must visit Terminal Market, if I go to Philadelphia. Loved reading this and love Ritter sport. I myself am German and live in Germany and love that chocolate. My favourite is the peppermint.

I love Reading Terminal. The Amish pretzel stand is the best. The chocolate looks good too, I love European chocolate! I’ll have to look for that next time I’m there.
