Burano Island

You can view all posts from my trip to Italy here.Β

If you read my last post on Burano Island (check it out for more photos and water taxi info), you’ll know that I only uploaded half of my photos before my brand new external hard drive died (I’ve learned an expensive lesson to triple back everything up and NEVER buy another Seagate product). Thankfully, the files were able to be recovered, so I’m picking up where I left off!

Guide to Burano Island

I absolutely loved Burano Island, and I liked it a lot more than Venice (you might know thatΒ I really didn’t like Venice very much). It was pretty empty when we were there (the rain may have had something to do with it), but the buildings were still absolutely beautiful. My photos don’t do Burano Island justice because we went on such a dreary, rainy day, but the island is so bright and colorful in person! I would love to go back during nicer weather and see some blue skies with the colorful buildings, though the rain puddles did give a pretty cool reflecting effect in some photos.

Burano Island is also known for its handmade lace (I have some photos of the lace on my previous Burano post), and it was surprisingly inexpensive in most places. I don’t think I got any souvenirs in Venice, but I absolutely love the glass souvenirs that I got from Murano Island and the lace souvenirs and gifts I got from Burano. Other than a little souvenir shopping, we just walked around Burano and took tons of photos. It’s easy to navigate and wander around, and you’ll probably want to get a photo of every color of the rainbow while you’re there!
