Boat Ride in Bonita Springs: The Best Place to See Dolphins in Florida

May

I’ve had a few posts on seeing dolphins in Florida at the beaches in Bonita Springs (and you can see manatee!) and I did a boat ride from Marco Island before, but I’ve never seen so many dolphins as I did on a boat ride in Bonita Springs! It was such an awesome experience, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new vacation adventure! 🙂

Boat Ride in Bonita Springs: The Best Place to See Dolphins in Florida

We got the boat from Bonita Boat Rentals and set out towards the ocean. There are tons of birds in the area, so if you enjoy bird watching, you should definitely do a boat ride! And we didn’t see any manatee on this boat ride, but we did see some around Marco Island. We were probably in the boat for only about 20 minutes or so before we started seeing the dolphins!

The dolphins were a little ways away from us to begin with, but then they came right up to the boat! They were jumping around and even swam under the boat a few times! My brother held his hand out to see if they would jump up to it or anything, but they didn’t, sadly. But that just goes to show how close they were to us. They seemed really friendly and were happy to put a show on for us! The dolphins hung around our boat probably for about 15 minutes and jumped around out of the water the whole time.

After performing for quite a while, the dolphins headed back out to sea, and we needed to bring the boat back. I think there were about 6 of them total (it seemed like two groups met up before coming over to us), and it’s the most I’ve seen together! We went out on the beach later, but we didn’t see any dolphins then.

We went on waverunners and they were so much fun! (I miraculously didn’t fall off!)

With all the dolphins I’ve seen every time I’m there, Bonita Springs is the best place to see dolphins in Florida! I see them every time I go to the beach, no matter what the weather is (this boat ride was in January, and I’ve also seen them in the summer). If you want to see some friendly dolphins, you should definitely do a boat ride in Bonita Springs! 🙂

Bonita Springs looks like the ideal place to have a boat rife to se dolphins! Congrats for the pics, I know they are so playful and really hard to catch on camera! But as you said they stayed long enough with you, this is because they are naturally so curious!

  10. Julia says:

You got the most beautiful photos of the dolphins! It must be quite something to see them so close. It’s a shame they didn’t reach out to your brother’s hand though, I guess some would but it depends on the animal, I’m sure some of them like the interaction and must be used to seeing humans around. This is such a fun and unique activity to do 🙂
