I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving 🙂 Annika and I definitely ate more than our fill!
I always wait to get in the mood for Christmas after Thanksgiving is over (though I tend to start Christmas shopping in August… I’m an early bird), so I thought I would do a photography gift guide now that it’s almost time for Christmas. I included items for everyone from the beginner photographer to the advanced (and accessories for anyone who wants to look like a photographer), and if you’re looking for photography books, I have you covered in my Cheap & Free Photography Books post!
I know some people are hard to shop for, so I hope this photography gift guide helps! I own a lot of the items on this post (you can read about them in my camera accessories post) and a lot more on my wishlist (saving up for that Nikon D3300!). And if you’re interested in buying any of my photographs on my blog as prints, note cards, calendars, etc., just contact me 🙂
Happy shopping! 🙂
Cameras
I absolutely love my Nikon D60, and it’s still in great condition after almost eight years! It isn’t too complicated for someone new to DSLRs, and it takes awesome photos. Bonus: this one comes with a 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens!
A Nikon D3300 has been on my wishlist for a while now, and it has great reviews. It’s for the more experienced photographer and has some fancier bells and whistles. Bonus: this one comes with a 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens!
Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera
I have one of these, and they’re so much fun! They’re really easy to use, and the polaroids make for fun decorations. And the cameras also come in different colors!
Camera Gear
Some people like using a fixed lens, but I love a zoom lens, especially one with a variety of length like this one. You can use this 55-200mm lens for close-up portraits or for taking photos from a distance.
I use the Bohemia strap (the one on the right) and I love it! It has a fun design, and it holds up well (you can read my review of it on my camera accessories post). And as you can see, it comes in other fun designs (you can get the white and black
Fujifilm INSTAX Mini Instant Film
If you’re getting a Fujifilm Instax camera, you’re going to need some film! You can choose from a variety of fun background designs and how many sheets you want.
AmazonBasics Lightweight Tripod with Bag
I haven’t needed a tripod yet, but I’ve been looking at different ones for when the time comes. This one is adjustable and comes with a bag.
If you’re more of an adventurous photographer, the GorillaPod might be for you. You can twist the legs around for uneven surfaces or even to wrap around a tree. I used some for my photography classes in college, and I really enjoyed using it!
Fjallraven Classic Kanken Backpack
I love my Fjallraven so much that I named my blog after it 🙂 It’s a great sturdy backpack that can hold a surprising amount of camera equipment, and it’s ergonomically designed. And it comes it lots of fun colors!
Accessories
Kurt Adler Camera Christmas Tree Ornament
If you’re feeling the Christmas spirit, these camera ornaments are perfect!
I think these pillows would look great in my new apartment 🙂
Matt got this thermos for me and I love it! It’s still in great condition after many a use, and it keeps things very hot. And it looks so much like a lens that I’ve freaked many people out when I accidentally knock it over!
I have colorful backgrounds for my polaroid prints, and it adds an extra pop of color to my decor. Plus, these come in all different colors and patterns!
Vintage Camera Upcycled Dictionary Art Print
If you’re looking for some camera themed artwork, this unique art is actually printed on an antique dictionary page!

I agree with the 55-300mm lens, I had it since I had my Nikon D60 and still works perfectly for portraits and close up stuffs! I also have the camera lens thermos and it’s so lovely! My wishlisht now is to have a 35mm prime lens! Heheh.
It’s good to know the lens works well! I’m saving up for it!
Love this little guide! I’m not a hard-core photographer, but I do love my Fjallraven and I’m considering getting that little Insta-Max for fun shoots 😉
Thank you! 🙂 I love my Instax! It’s a lot of fun!
Great round up, as someone who’s got a growing interest in photography I would absolutely LOVE it if someone got me a new lens or chipped in to get me one.

Thank you! You should definitely check out the deals around Christmas! 🙂 Or even ask for Amazon gift cards to help pay for one!
Love the gift guide! You should totally do a section for some smaller camera cases too!
That’s a great idea, thanks! 🙂
Those Instax cameras are so stinking cute! I’m totally buying one for my daughter as soon as she’s able to operate it!
Yeah they’re a lot of fun! I love mine!
Great list!! I’m happy there’s still a camera like the Polaroid out there, I was so sad when they announced they were discontinuing the film! Also, I can vouch for the utility of the GorillaPod – great for taking self-timed group shots when you’re on an adventure 😉 Cute camera straps, too!
Thank you! Yes I’m very happy with my Instax, I loved using Polaroid cameras!
This is such a good list! I’m a new DSLR owner and totally want a camera strap!
Thank you! I really love my BestTrendy camera strap and it’s still in great condition!
I have that mug, too! And a DSLR that is nearly as old as yours =p. The mug for sure makes an interesting conversation starter. I’ve been eying up that Kanken backpack – you’re the second or third person who has sung it praises!
I use my mug for everything! I definitely recommend getting a Fjallraven! I love mine!
I love my gorillapod!
They’re a lot of fun! I may have to get one for myself! 🙂
This is such a fun post! I’ve been thinking about getting an Instax just for fun… you may convinced me 🙂
Thank you! I love using my Instax so you should definitely get one! 🙂
Thanks for including me in your round-up 🙂 I have a fjallraven mini kanken on my wish-list, I’m pretty excited about it!

Thank you! The thermos is one of my favorite gifts!
Love this gift guide, I rarely see one’s for photographers and always have a hard time finding cute gifts for my sister – the lens mug is perfect!!
Thank you! The mug was one of my favorite gifts!
I have the 3300 and I love it! Def worth buying.
I’ve actually been looking at the gorilla pod! I was debating getting myself a tiny one for my trip overseas, so I don’t have to tote around a big one. And thanks so much for including my gift guide! x
