About a month ago, I announced that I’ll be traveling to Italy in April, and I’m so excited! It’s my first time in Italy, and my first trip back to Europe since studying abroad (where does the time go?). Unlike my recent trip to Mexico, I won’t be staying in one hotel in one city the whole time, so I need to be more strategic about what I pack and make sure I pack light. I don’t know why, but I always seem to overpack and also forget to pack important things at the same time, so I’m going to try to be on top of things for my next trip.
I’ve been researching some essential travel accessories and things to help with packing, and I thought I would compile my wishlist for you all in case anyone else will be traveling soon. And if anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear them! 🙂
I definitely need these packing cubes to help keep me organized and to keep me from overpacking. And they come in all different sizes and colors, too!
I usually use plastic bags for laundry, but I think it’s time to upgrade.
ScotteVest sells jackets other clothing with lots of hidden pockets to keep all your gadgets and valuables safe. They’re a little expensive, but they’re worth it to protect against pickpockets!
Push-Button Inflatable Daydreamer Neck Pillow
Every time I try to sleep on an airplane, I regret not having a pillow. With a long flight to Europe and lots of train traveling throughout Italy coming up, I definitely want to be prepared this time. Plus, this one can deflate for easy storage!
I have travel bottles like these, and they make things so much easier! Those little hotel bottles that I have saved up don’t have enough shampoo to last me a week, so these bottles come in handy for longer trips.
Swig Savvy 25oz Glass Water Bottle
My water bottles always seem to break or the lids start leaking, so this break resistant and leak proof bottle is the perfect one for me. It is glass, but the reviews say that it really is unbreakable!
I’m pretty frugal and got my phone used so it would be cheaper, but it tends to randomly die even when it’s fully charged, so I really need to get a portable charger like this. I have a tendency to get lost and my phone likes to die at the most inopportune times, so I’m going to try to prevent being without a map or phone if I get separated from my friends (I’ve already done both in Estonia…).
Insten Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug
My universal charger in Denmark was pretty old and weighed at least a pound, so it’s time for a lighter upgrade.
Leather Passport Cover and Travel Wallet
I’ve been planning on getting a passport cover for a while, and this one can also be used as a wallet!
These luggage tags are made by the same company as the passport covers, so you can get a matching set!
What’s something that you can’t travel without? Comment below! 🙂
I’m ordering the ScottVest jacket right now, it’s brilliant and so important in these techy times. A really great list especially with the leather passport cover. Recently got some packing cubes and they really have revolutionized the whole travel packing industry, so easy and perfect for long travels.
I hope you like the jacket, I love mine!
Great post! Super helpful for my trip to America this summer!
xx
Thanks! 🙂 Where in the US are you visiting?
Great items! Now I have to update my cart with these! 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! 🙂 I hope they come in handy!
These are great items. The inflatable neck pillow is genius and hopefully comfortable! I may have to get that, even though I don’t have a trip coming up anytime soon. =]
Yes I was really excited when I found that pillow! I’ve never seen an inflatable one before!
Love this list! Especially the jacket. Bookmarked your article for future reference. 🙂

All great ideas. I need to be organized while travelling, like really organized. I love those packing cube ideas as well I need to buy those laundry bags! How perfect. Have a great trip in Italy!
Thank you! 🙂
I hope a nice camera is in your packing list! You’re gonna love Italy. Florence is amazing! Also, if you get a chance to explore some of the hill towns in Tuscany, you should. It’s enchanting. Best travel wishes!
Thank you!
I love to travel and these are great suggestions of what to bring along – thank you!
Thanks! I hope these suggestions help!
I love this idea of jacket vest! I will have to look into one of those, I want to start traveling more.
I’m hoping to get one soon, so I’ll let you know how it turns out!
Those boxes are awesome. Also, I’m going to be intrigued to see when I upgrade to one of those travel pillows. Currently, I always bunch up a scarf, seems to work pretty well. Definitely looks like a hot mess though. (As per usual.)
I’ll let you know how the travel pillow works if I get one!
I always thought neck pillows wouldn’t make a huge difference, but they’re so useful for long flights. Definitely recommend them as a travel investment!
Thanks! I definitely need to get one!
Great picks! I really need to invest in some travel bottles, I keep meaning to buy them!

Thank you! 🙂 They make packing so much easier!!
We’re just a couple days away from booking our trip in early June – to Italy! Going to Venice, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi coast. So excited!!! My best travel tips are to roll everything up, and to pick just one neutral color (black, brown, tan or navy) to work the wardrobe around. And you need far fewer shoes than you think you need!
Thanks! Yeah I always seem to pack too many shoes!!
I use plastic bags for laundry, too – definitely time for an upgrade, hahah! Great list!
Thanks! 🙂
I use vacuum bags for laundry, the ones you can roll and don’t need a vacuum cleaner to empty. Great for keeping smelly socks etc away from any clothing that maybe hasn’t been worn or souvenir foods etc.
That’s a good idea, thanks!
