Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy New Year! I know it’s well past the holidays, but today is Epiphany and the Christmas decorations are still up in Philadelphia, and with temperatures finally below freezing, it feels more like Christmas now! (Annika and I just need lots of snow to go with the cold now!) Plus, I always love extending the holiday season (and all of the Christmas cookies!) as long as possible so winter doesn’t feel quite so bleak.
I grew up living in neighborhoods with Christmas lights up the day after Thanksgiving, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that even without yards or much space, people go all out with their decorations here in Center City 🙂 Rodman Street went all out with Halloween decorations this year, and I was happy to see that they kept it up with Christmas this year!
I kept all the pictures in black and white and I love the texture of all the greenery that comes out, but the bright greens and reds are also beautiful so let me know if there are any you would like to see in color!
I pass this beautifully decorated house every day on 13th Street on my way to work, and it’s even prettier in person
The greenery with the iron rails really gives the Philly homes an old Christmas feel
I just loved how this little gate was decorated, and they didn’t even use any garlands!
I loved the little snowflakes on this railing because I am so ready for some snow!
This window decoration is probably my favorite because it’s very simple and makes me feel all Christmasy and cozy!
I still need to take pictures of Boathouse Row (I have seen it from the highway though, and it’s gorgeous!), but where else in the city should I go for some Christmas decorations? Comment below! 🙂
This is such a lovely idea for a post! I love seeing how other countries do Christmas (I’m in the UK!)
