You probably know by now that Matt and I went on our honeymoon to the Austrian Alps and Bavaria, and it was amazing! Since I’m a photographer, I take a lot of great photos of Matt when we travel, but other than some selfies, we really didn’t have many good photos of the two of us on trips. So since our honeymoon was a big occasion, I thought it would a good idea to get some photos of us on our honeymoon! (Even if they weren’t in the outfits I had wanted for our honeymoon- keep reading for that story). We did our honeymoon photoshoot in Innsbruck, and it was the perfect place to take photos 🙂
Honeymoon photoshoot in Innsbruck
Our photographer was Madeleine Gabl, and she was so fun to work with! It was great getting to do a little tour of Innsbruck with a local, and she took us to some spots we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Matt and I already had a lot of posing practice since we just got married and had hundreds of photos of us taken, but Madeleine was great at posting us in different ways and getting us to laugh.
Madeleine specializes in weddings and portraits, so if you’re in the Innsbruck area and need a photographer, check her out!
I definitely wanted some photos taken in front of the famous colorful houses in Innsbruck, and that was the first place we went to. It was first thing in the morning, so the area wasn’t crowded at all. These were some of our favorite photos from our honeymoon photoshoot in Innsbruck, so we have one hanging up in our living room now!
Photos in Hofgarten (and the story of our outfits)
So, funny story about our outfits! I had recently gotten a pretty blue French countryside inspired dress and thought it would be perfect for our European honeymoon photos. But if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that our luggage got lost (as in no airline even knew where it was) and we didn’t have it the ENTIRE time we were on our honeymoon (we eventually got it back over a week after we got home, and the whole thing was a disaster from beginning to end). So all Matt and I had packed in our carry on was one outfit, and mine was gym clothes! (Lesson learned, believe me)
I still wanted photos of Matt and me together, of course, so we found an H&M and bought some cheap outfits. I’m pretty tall, so none of the dresses were long enough for my preference, and the only shoes that were big enough were men’s sneakers. Not the honeymoon photos that I was envisioning, but we learned to roll with the punches. And maybe one of these days we’ll get some photos together with the outfits we wanted to wear!
We took photos around old city Innsbruck, and we ventured over to Hofgarten for some pretty park photos. Even though it’s right on the edge of the main city in Innsbruck, it was so quiet and peaceful. If you want to escape some of the city hustle and bustle, I highly recommend relaxing in Hofgarten and seeing some pretty sights.
I love how the photos turned out, even with our hastily bought outfits! If you’re planning your honeymoon, I highly recommend getting a honeymoon photoshoot, and if you need a photographer in Innsbruck, be sure to check out Madeleine 🙂

Thanks!
Fantastic photos! Congrats on what looks like a fantastic hooneymoon and wedding.
Thank you! 🙂
THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY ADORABLE!! I’m not getting married or anything, but I’d love to do a couple’s photoshoot somewhere abroad!
Thank you! 🙂 I highly recommend it!
You two look lovely together! I can see happiness from your eyes! And yes it’s great that you take this oppportunity to do a photoshoot where both of you are in the photos 😀
Thank you! 🙂
What resources did you use to find a photographer in a foreign country? I feel like I wouldn’t know where to begin or who to trust.
Since we weren’t going to a big city, it was harder than I expected! I did a lot of Google searches and checked out some hashtags on Instagram and I contacted a few people to check their availability and pricing.
This is such a lovely and unique souvenir from a holiday!
Thanks! 🙂
You guys look so in love, what a beautiful wedding shoot!
Thank you! 🙂
