I absolutely love winter in Philadelphia! And I’m probably one of the few people in the city who actually likes all the snow and freezing temperatures (this explains why I studied abroad in Denmark in the winter), but winter in Philadelphia can be so pretty. I grew up in Washington, D.C. and always loved going sledding and building snowmen on snow days, but then my family moved to North Carolina where we were lucky if we even got an inch of snow! So I’m happy to experiencing snow again, especially in a city as pretty as Philadelphia 🙂
While we did get one messy storm with lots of ice that made walking and driving hazardous (in late March, no less!), winter storms have been pretty mild here. We didn’t get a blizzard like last year (you can view those photos here), but we did get some smaller snow storms, and they made winter in Philadelphia so beautiful. Annika absolutely loves the snow (I made a whole post of her playing in the snow!), so it’s always a lot of fun having a Siberian Husky during the winter! And I have lots of photos of her in this post 🙂
I took a lot of these photos at Rittenhouse Square, which is one of my favorite spots in the city. It’s a pretty big square with lots of statues and beautiful plants and trees, and as you can see, there’s so much to photograph! (I even featured it in one of last year’s posts with photos of the blizzard). So if you’re looking for a place to photograph winter in Philadelphia next year, I definitely suggest going to Rittenhouse Square.
You can get great views of the city skyline at Rittenhouse Sqaure
One of my all time favorite photos is of this statue covered in snow from last year’s blizzard! (you can view it here)
I LOVE photographing icicles
Can you spot Annika photobombing?
Since we got some snow and ice in March, some flowers had already started blooming!
Philadelphia’s famous City Hall
These icicles were pretty cool!
I love daffodils, and they were still pretty in the snow!
It’s hard to photograph Annika in the snow because she gets so excited and won’t look at me 🙂
Does anyone else love winter in Philadelphia as much as I do? 🙂 If you’re over winter and ready for spring, check out my Spring in Philadelphia post to see some beautiful flowers!
You make me miss Philly so much! I think I say that every post you do, LOL. This is stunning. As someone who lived near Philly, but not in it, I can say I’ve never seen the city in snow like this. Your photos are stunning.
Thank you so much! 🙂
I’m definitely not a fan of winter (only when vacationing haha), but I love the winter “scene” – snow-covered roofs, sidewalks, trees. I think it can be quite magical! I mean look at your photos! They are just gorgeous!
Thank you! 🙂
This is my best season.. and I think no place can be better than Philadelphia to spend your winter. you have captured best of the city. just remarkable. cheers!
Thank you! 🙂
I love the snow, we don’t get much of it here in Australia. Your photos are just beautiful. Having some serious yearnings to travel back to the US again now.
Thank you! 🙂
I grew up so close to Philly but I’ve never visiting the city in winter, it looks so beautiful! Love all of your photos! (:
Thanks! 🙂 You should definitely visit when it snows!
Such beautiful pictures!! I love the one with the icicles and what a beautiful husky with the snowy background! I’ve got to check out Philly when I visit NYC this winter!
Thank you! 🙂 Yes you definitely should!
Stunning photos, you’re a great photographer! And your dog is super cute, those eyes!!
Thank you! 🙂
These shots are absolutely stunning! I remember that snow storm and the mess it caused afterwards trying to get out of parking spots! It was insane! I love how you captured the beauty of snow and the wonder of it, however! Those icicle shots were so good and it’s so interesting how they form like that as they’re dripping! Also, that dog is the cutest!! <3
Thank you so much! 🙂
Wow!! I am LOVING all of the detail shots with the ice – especially of the flowers. I have to say I’m a little bummed we didn’t get very much snow this year (my pup loves romping around in it too!) but these are some beautiful shots of the last little bit of the winter!
Thank you! 🙂
These are great photos! I’m not a fan of winter, but seeing these photos makes me want at least one more snow day here in DC.
Thank you! 🙂
I lovw winter too and I’m glad to come across someone who loves it ?. I even moved north to another country to have a real and cold winter.
I would love to move further north to have more of a winter, too! 🙂
The perspectives you chose to photograph from are good. The differences in texture and depth of field make the images more interesting!
Thank you so much! 🙂
These are great pictures. I’m not a fan of winter anymore but love the pictures of the ice covering all the different plants.
Thank you! 🙂
I love these photos. Winter is my favorite and, unfortunately, we didn’t get much of a Winter here in Missouri.
Thank you! 🙂
